The Meaning of Sohum

What does Sohum mean?

Sohum is a Hindu mantra that when translated means "I am That" or "I am one with the universe".

This universal and natural mantra is presented within every body as the breath. The inhalation of breath makes the subtle sound of 'So', and the exhalation of breath creating the sound 'Hum', hence 'Sohum'.

Studio Etiquette

Arrive on time: As yoga is a mindful practice, we encourage all students to arrive at the studio at least 5-10 minutes before the scheduled class time. The street level door is required to be closed during class times and late arrivals will be locked out. Savasana is one of the most rewarding and beneficial poses so please respect your fellow yogis by staying to the very end of class and not leaving early.

Leave your belongings outside: We have a beautiful reception area where you can leave your belongings and shoes as only mats and water are to be taken into the studio space. Please put your phone on silent and leave it outside of the studio space.

Mats: Mat hire is available for $2 a class, but we do encourage you to bring your own mat. We have some Jade Harmony mats for sale at the studio and mat storage is available if you'd like to leave your mat at the studio.

Respect the studio: Please wipe down your mat and it's surrounding area after each class with the cleaning products available. Blocks, bolsters, straps and blankets are also to be returned neatly to the storage shelves.

New students: All new yogis are required to fill out a new client form before their first class so please arrive 15 minutes early to allow enough time to enter all the required information.
